Choosing Base/Reference Pose

The choice you make in regards to Base/Reference Pose will determine the End Results that you get. Your Choices are Limited to one of the following: - 1: Match The Source (UEFN) Pose to the Target (Your Character) Pose. - 2: Match the Target (Your Character) Pose To The Source (UEFN) Pose. - 3: Do not match Either of Them. 1 & 2 Will give seemingly similar results, but I have found that Matching the Source (UEFN) to the Target (Your Character) will give more accurate finger positioning. Alternatively you could just match the Fingers and not the Body. Here you will see on the First one they are in the ALS Neutral Pose (ALS_N) In the Second picture they are in their Base/Reference Poses. In these images we are not MATCHING their poses. When you don't match the poses your character's Posture will be Preserved. In some cases, it may not be possible to not match their poses if your character is Abnormal in Nature. To Edit the Retarget Pose (Base/Reference Pose used for Retargeting) Press the 3 Dots and Select 'Edit Retarget Pose', or just press the Button Once. Select the Source Button. Then Select AutoAlign->AlignAllBones as show in the picture. This will Align the Source to the Target. NOTE: If your using the IK Retargeter to Transfer the Animations to your Character's Skeleton and you Match the Target to the Source, you will need to change the actual Default Base/Reference Pose of your character for those animations to look right. If you have other animations on your character then this will make them NOT look right. This is another reason to NEVER Match the Target to the Source. It may not be real obvious with some character's but the first image M4A1_Aiming_Pose with the UEFN Aligned to the Character's Base/Reference Pose. The Second image is the same pose but without either Character's Aligned to the other. You will see then that the Posture of the one aligned is more curved like that of the UEFN, where as the one with No Alignment, has preserved it's original Posture. On some character's such as Meta Human Female's this will be More Obvious as their Posture will look less feminine. Ultimately this choice will be up too you and your character. With Anatomically correct Humans you may not want this.
